REGULATIONS OF

 

9th INTERNATIONAL VILNIUS MARATHON

 

I. COMMON PART

Municipality of Vilnius city, Athletics federation of Lithuania and Public institution „Tarptautinis maratonas“ organizes the 9th International Vilnius marathon on 9th September, 2012.

 

II. AIMS AND TASKS

1.      To continue tradition of Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, and to join the other capitals of Europe which organize marathons.

2.      To encourage interest of foreigners in Lithuania and Vilnius.

3.      To develop links with other cities which organize marathons.

4.      To promote running and athletics in Lithuania, to encourage interest in marathon.

5.      To enhance quantity of mass events in Vilnius. To enhance activity of city residents.

6.      To promote running as a healthy way of living.

7.      To select the most promoting runners in every age group.

 

III. DISTANCES

During the marathon amateurs and professionals will have a possibility to compete in three events:

marathon – 42,195 km;

marathon relay race – 4x10,550 km;

half-marathon – 21,098 km;

mini-marathon – 4,2 km.

 

IV. TIME AND PLACE OF THE EVENT

1.      Start of mini-marathon – September 9th, 2012 at 3.30 p.m. at the Cathedral square (T. Vrublevskio str.);

2.      Start of 9th International Vilnius marathon – September 9th, 2012 at 9.30 a.m. at the Cathedral square (T. Vrublevskio str.);

3.      Start of the marathon relay race – September 9th, 2012 at 9.30 a.m. at the Cathedral square (T. Vrublevskio str.);

4.      Start of half-marathon – September 9th, 2012 at 9.30 a.m. at the Cathedral square (T. Vrublevskio str.);

5.      Finish – in the Cathedral square (T. Vrublevskio str.).

 

V. TIME LIMITS

1. Marathon, marathon relay race  - 5 h 30 min.

2. Half-marathon - 3 h.

3. The electronic system of time measurement will be turned off at 4.30 p.m. on the day of the race and the time results will not be recorded. Also, at 4.30 p.m. streets of the city will be opened and the organizers of the marathon will not be responsible for the safety of the runners.

 

VI. PARTICIPANTS

 

1. Anyone can participate in the competition after completing the entry form, passing medical examination and confirming this by their signature. Participants take part in the event at their free will and they accept all the risks (unexpected health problems etc.) related to the competition and will have no legal claims in this respect to the organizers of the Marathon. Upon the registration and taking his or her race number the participant must have a personal identification document.

 

2. With the registration to the event every participant authorizes, that he or she gives all the rights to use still and moving images in which he or she appears for marketing purposes without additional permission of the participant.

 

3. Marathon relay runner should be born no later than 1996. Participant can be a member of only one team and can run only one stage. Handing over of a time measuring device „ChampionChip“ will take place in special corridor, in start/finish area.

6. Parents, guardians or trainers take full responsibility for the minors.

 

VII. SPECIAL TERMS AND RESTRICTIONS

1.      Participants can register and take part in the race only under his/her own names. In all other cases participants will be disqualified and the results will not be included into the official competition results.

2.      Participants can change the starting distance before September 1, 2012. They have to pay 20 Euros distance change fee.

3.      Every participant of the competition must have a number fastened neatly on the T-shirt. The number has to be fastened on the front of the T-shirt to be clearly visible.

4.      It is strictly forbidden to use any kind of transport, e.g. bicycles, roller-skates, skate-boards and other wheeled vehicles during the race. In case of breaking this restriction participant will be disqualified.

5.      Participants are not allowed to have any personal escort during the race. In case of breaking this restriction the participant will be disqualified.

6.      No animals are permitted on the course during the race.

7.      Each competitor must attach a time measuring device „ChampionChip“ on the shoe following the guidelines shown in the instruction. Failure to attach the time chip properly will result in unrecorded race results.

8.      Any deviation from the set course (without permission of the judge) is prohibited. In case of breaking this restriction the participant will be disqualified.

10.  Any possible claims must be submitted to the main referee of the competition in writing within 30 minutes after the termination of the competition, accompanied by a fee of 30 Euros, which will be refunded if the claim is satisfied by the appeal commission (the director of the marathon, main referee, a representative of LAF). The claims are not considered unless the fee is paid.

 

VIII. CATERING ON THE COURSE

Catering stations will be set up along the course of the marathon and half-marathon where participants will be given energy drinks, water and fruit. Catering stations, water and wet sponges for the refreshment will be set up every 5 kilometres.

 

IX. AWARDS

1. Marathon:

a. 1-3 place winners (men and women) will be awarded Vilnius Marathon Cups of the year 2012.

b. The winners and prize winners of different age groups will be awarded with gifts.

c. All participants who finish the distance within the time limits will receive marathon medals and diplomas.

2. Marathon relay race:

a. 1-3 place winners – teams will be awarded Vilnius marathon relay race Cups of the year 2012.

b. Teams, who cross finish line, will receive commemorative medals.

 

3. Half-marathon:

a. 1-3 place winners (men and women) will be awarded Vilnius Half - marathon Cups of the year 2012.

b. The winners and prize winners of different age groups will be awarded with gifts.

c. All participants who finish the distance within the time limits will receive commemorative medals.

 

4. Mini-marathon:

a. 1-3 place winners (men and women) will be awarded Vilnius Mini - marathon Cups of the year 2012;

b. All the participant who finish the distance will receive commemorative souvenirs of mini-marathon.

 

X. ENTRY FEE

1. For the participants of Marathon:

а. registered until 31 January, 2012  – 15 Eur;

b. registered 1-29 February, 2012  – 20 Eur

b. registered 1 March– 31 July, 2012  – 25 Eur;

c. registered 1 August – 7 September, 2012  – 30 Eur;

d. registered 8-9 September, 2012  – 45 Eur.

2. For the marathon relay race:

а. registered until 31 January, 2012  – 20 Eur;

b. registered 1-29 February, 2012  – 30 Eur

b. registered 1 March– 31 July, 2012  – 35 Eur;

c. registered 1 August – 7 September, 2012  – 40 Eur;

d. registered 8-9 September, 2012  – 52 Eur.

3. For the participants of Half – marathon:

а. registered until 31 January, 2012  – 10 Eur;

b. registered 1-29 February, 2012  – 15 Eur

b. registered 1 March– 31 July, 2012  – 20 Eur;

c. registered 1 August – 8 September, 2012  – 25 Eur;

d. registered 9 September, 2012  – 35 Eur.

4. For the participants of Mini-marathon:

а. registered until 31 January, 2012  – 3 Eur;

b. registered 1-29 February, 2012  – 6 Eur

b. registered 1 March– 31 July, 2012  – 8 Eur;

c. registered 1 August – 8 September, 2012  – 10 Eur;

d. registered 9 September, 2012  – 13 Eur.

4. For the participants of Mini-marathon under 18:

а. registered until 31 January, 2012  – 2 Eur;

b. registered 1-29 February, 2012  – 3 Eur

b. registered 1 March– 31 July, 2012  – 5 Eur;

c. registered 1 August – 8 September, 2012  – 7 Eur;

d. registered 9 September, 2012  – 9 Eur.

5. The entry fee is non-refundable.

 

XI. REGISTRATION OF PARTICIPANTS AND ISSUING RACE NUMBERS

1. All participants may register on the internet at www.vilniausmaratonas.lt and www.vilniusmarathon.lt. Online registration will be ended on 7th of September.

2. On 7-8 September, 2012 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. all participants will have a possibility to register, receive time measuring device „ChampionChip“ and participants’ number at the organizers tent on Gediminas Avenue, near the Cathedral square.

3. On the competition day participants of the marathon, half marathon and marathon relay will be able to receive personal number, from 7.00 a.m. to 8.30 a.m. in the competition centre. Participants of the mini-marathon will be able to register and get their number until 1.00 p.m.

 

 

XII. THE COURSE

Vilnius Marathon 2012 will have a circular route. It will take 4 laps to run a marathon and 2 laps to run half marathon.

Start and Finish at the Cathedral square, T.Vrublevskio st., Mindaugas bridge, Žvejų st., Upės st., Vytauto st., Gedimino av., Vilniaus st., Vokiečių st., Subačiaus st., Maironio st, Aukštaičių st., Paupio st., Malūnų st., Maironio st., Sereikiškių park, Barboros Radvilaitės st. Šventragio st..
