REGULATIONS OF
7th INTERNATIONAL VILNIUS MARATHON
I. COMMON PART
Municipality of Vilnius city, Athletics federation of Lithuania and Public institution „Tarptautinis maratonas“ organises the 7th International Vilnius marathon on 11-12 September, 2010.
II. AIMS AND TASKS
1.To continue tradition of Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, and to join to other capitals of Europe which organise marathons.
2.To encourage interest of foreigners in Lithuania and Vilnius.
3.To develope links with other cities which organise marathons.
4.To promote running and athletics in Lithuania, to encourage interest in marathon.
5.To enhance quantity of mass events in Vilnius. To enhance activity of city residents.
6.To promote running as a healthy way of living.
7.To select the most promoting runners in every age group.
III. RESPONSIBILITY AND DUTIES OF EVENT ORGANISERS
1.Athletic federation of Lithuania undertakes:
- To organise and judge in the competition and to pay all expenses related to it;
- To implement Marathon championships of Lithuania and Junior championships, to award winners and prizewinners;
- To popularize the event using all available manners and means.
2.Public institution „Tarptautinis maratonas“ undertakes:
- To register participants of the competiton, to produce and issue personal race numbers;
- To measure and certify the course and to prepare it technicaly for the competition according to the Rules of the International Association of Atletics Federations (IAAF) and the requirements of the Association of International marathons and Distance races (AIMS);
- To advertise the event and to implement campaign of public relations on purpose to popularize marathon and to attract more participants.
3.Municipality of Vilnius city undertakes:
- To restrict or to suspend traffic in streets, in which the event and other related events will take place;
- To allow to implement registration of participants in Gedimino avenue and to organise other events related to Marathon in Cathedral square and Sereikiškių park.
IV. DISTANCES
During the marathon amateurs and professionals will have a possibillity to compete in three events:
marathon – 42,195 km;
half-marathon – 21,097 km;
mini-marathon – 4,2 km.
V. THE TIME AND PLACE OF THE EVENT
1.Start of mini-marathon – 12 September, 2010 at 10.00 a.m. in the Cathedral square (T. Vrublevskio str.);
2.Start of 7th International Vilnius marathon – 12 September, 2010 ar 11.00 a.m. in the Cathedral square (T. Vrublevskio str.);
3.Start of half-marathon – 12 September, 2010 ar 11.00 a.m. in the Cathedral square (T. Vrublevskio str.);
4.Finish – in the Cathedral square (T. Vrublevskio str.).
VI. TIME LIMITS
1.Marathon - 5 h 30 min.
2.Half-marathon - 3 h.
3.The electronic system of time measurement will be turned off at 4.30 p.m. on the day of the race and the time results will not be recorded. Also, at 4.30 p.m. the roads of the town will be opened and the organizers of the marathon will not be responsible for the safety of the runners who will still remain on the road of the race.
VII. PARTICIPANTS
1.All willing people can participate in the competition after filling in the entry documents, passing medical examination and confirming this by their signature. The participants take part in the event at their free will, nobody is forcing them and they accept all the risks (unexpected health problems, etc.) related to the competition and will have no legal claims in this respect to the organizers of the Marathon. Upon the registration and taking his or her race number the participant must have a personal identification document.
2.Only persons, who were born in 1992 and earlier can participate in marathon and half-marathon. Parents, guardians or trainers are responsible for the underage children participating in the Mini-Marathon.
3.With the registration to the event every participant authorizes the acquisition of the rights to use the still and moving images in which he or she appears to use for marketing purposes without additional permission of the participant.

VIII. SPECIAL TERMS AND RESTRICTIONS
1.The participants can use only their names and surnames while getting registered into any of the competitions. If thIS term IS not followed, the participants will be disqualified and the results will not be included into the official competition results.
2.Registered participants can change the starting distance before September 1, 2010. They have to pay 20 Euros distance change fee.
3.Every participant of the competition must have a number fastened neatly on the T-shirt. The number has to be fastened on the front of the T-shirt to be clearly visible.
4.For the participants and their supporters it is strictly forbidden to use any kind of transport, e.g. bicycles, roller-skates, skate-boards and other wheeled vehicles. In case of breaking this restriction the participant will be disqualified.
5.The participants are not allowed to have any personal escort during the race. In case of breaking this restriction the participant will be disqualified.
6.No animals are permitted on the course during the race.
7.Each competitor must attach the time measuring device „ChampionChip“ on the shoe following the guidelines shown in the instruction. Time results will not be included into the race results and the time will not be recorded if the competitors do not attach or attach the "chip" inappropriately.
8.Those who will not return the "chips" will be fined 20 Euros.
9.Any deviation from the set course (without permission of the judge) is prohibited. In case of breaking this restriction the participant will be disqualified.
10.Any possible claims must be submitted to the main referee of the competition (Mr. A.Buliuolis) in writting within 30 minutes after the termination of the competition, accompanied by a fee of 30 Euros, which will be refunded if the claim is satisfied by the appeal commission (the director of the marathon, main referee, a representative of LAF). The claims are not considered unless the fee is paid.
IX. CATERING ON THE COURSE
Catering stations will be set up along the course of the marathon and half-marathon where participants will be given energetic drinks, water and fruit. Catering stations, and water and wet sponges for the refreshment will be set up every 5 kilometres, starting from the 7.5th kilometer of the course.
X. AWARDS
1.Marathon:
- 1-3 place winners (men and women) will be awarded Vilnius Marathon Cups of the year 2010;
- The winners and prizewinners of different age groups will.
- 1-3 place winners (men and women) of Lithuanian Marathon Championship of marathon and Junior - Championship will be awarded medals and diplomas of The Athletic Federation of Lithuania.
- All the participants who will finish the distance within the time limits will receive medals commemorative.
2.Half-marathon:
- 1-3 place winners (men and women) will be awarded Vilnius Half - marathon Cups of the year 2010;
- All the participants who will finish the distance within the time limits will receive commemorative medals.
3.Mini-marathon:
- 1-3 place winners (men and women) will be awarded Vilnius Mini - marathon Cups of the year 2010;
- All the participant who will finish the distance will receive commemorative souvenirs of mini-marathon.
XI. ENTRY FEE
1.NOTE: if the person who registered does not pay the fee in 7 days he is automatically deleted from the participants list. In this case, the one who wants to participate, has to register one more time. The payment has to be made according to the tariff on the day of the payment. If you pay not according to the tariff of the day of the payment it will not be counted.
2.For participants of Marathon:
- registered until 28 February, 2010 – 15 Eur;
- registered 1 March – 30 April, 2010 – 18 Eur;
- registered 1 May – 31 July, 2010 – 24 Eur;
- registered 1 August – 11 September, 2010 – 29 Eur;
- registered 12 September, 2010 – 58 Eur.
3.For participants of Half – marathon:
- registered until 28 February, 2010 – 10 Eur;
- registered 1 March – 30 April, 2010– 12 Eur;
- registered 1 May – 31 July, 2010 – 18 Eur;
- registered 1 August – 11 September, 2010 – 24 Eur;
- registered 12 September, 2010 – 35 Eur.
4.For participants of Mini-marathon:
- registered until 28 February, 2010 – 2 Eur;
- registered 1 March – 30 April, 2010 – 3 Eur;
- registered 1 May – 31 July, 2010 – 4 Eur;
- registered 1 August – 11 September, 2010 – 5 Eur ( registering 1 August – 11 September, 2010 a group of ten or more people, entrance fee for one person – 4 Eur.);
- registered 12 September, 2010 – 6 Eur.
5.The entry fee is non-refundable.
XII. REGISTRATION OF PARTICIPANTS AND ISSUING RACE NUMBERS
1.All participants may register on the internet at www.vilniausmaratonas.lt and www.vilniusmarathon.lt;
2.The website www.vilniusmarathon.lt registration system off September 10th. 12.00 p.m.;
3.Participants can register, receive personal number and a "chip" on September 10, 2010 at the competition office centre situated in Odminiu str. 8 (entrance is from Stuokos Gucevičiaus str.), Vilnius, which is open from 8.00 a.m. till 8.00 p.m.;
4.Participants can register, receive personal number and a „chip“ on September 11, 2010 in Gedimino str. near the Cathedral square from 8.00 a.m. till 8.00 p.m.;
5.On the competition day only participants of mini-marathon will be able to receive personal number, from 7.00 a.m. to 9.00 a.m. in the competition centre (other pariticipants from other cities will have a chance to receive their personal number only in exceptional cases);
6.If participant registers correctly and pays the entrance fee, he or she is enrolled into start protocol.
