Participants who choose a more sustainable way to travel to the “Swedbank Vilnius Marathon” will pay less for their trip

As the “Swedbank Vilnius Marathon” approaches on September 14, the main partner “Swedbank” has brought together transport service providers to offer better conditions for more sustainable travel to and from the marathon.

“Travel by participants and spectators makes up a significant part of the CO2 footprint of large events. That’s why we decided to bring together partners offering sustainable transport services, who can provide better travel prices for marathon participants and their supporters – helping to reduce the environmental impact of the event,” said Karolina Semionovaitė, Head of Sustainability at Swedbank.

Discounts for intercity travel

A significant number of marathon participants and their supporters come from other cities. To make their trip easier, intercity transport providers “LTG Link” and “Kautra” will offer a 30% discount on tickets to and from Vilnius during the marathon weekend, September 13–14.

The discounts will be available with the code SWEDBANK, when purchasing tickets on the carriers’ websites or via their mobile apps.

“We are delighted to contribute to the Vilnius Marathon – we invite participants to travel by train, as it is not only a convenient but also a sustainable way to reach the event and reduce environmental impact,” said Kristina Meidė, CEO of LTG Link.

“Movement is part of Kautra’s everyday life, and we are proud to support and contribute to the sustainable ‘Swedbank Vilnius Marathon’ event. We are offering participants, their supporters, and spectators a unique opportunity to reach this special event comfortably and responsibly,” said Linas Skardžiukas, CEO of Kautra.

Getting around the city – scooters and bikes

Due to traffic restrictions and limited parking on marathon day, participants and spectators in Vilnius are encouraged to use public transport, bicycles, or scooters to get to the event.

The mobility platform Bolt will offer marathon participants and spectators a 30% discount for traveling to and from the event using electric scooters and bikes. Each user will be able to use the discount code SWEDBANK twice on September 14 – once for arriving at the event and once for returning.

“The marathon is an important event that brings together the city’s active community, so we are delighted to contribute to making it comfortable for everyone to enjoy. Participants and spectators traveling to the marathon by scooter will also save time they would otherwise spend stuck in traffic or searching for a parking spot,” said Benas Jurlovas, Head of Bolt’s shared micromobility services.

“It’s great news that our transport partners are offering significant discounts for runners and spectators – this is a direct investment in participants’ comfort and sustainability. Most importantly, it’s a solution that works for everyone: both those coming from other cities and those living in Vilnius,” said Gediminas Pajėda, Director of the Swedbank Vilnius Marathon.
