REGULATIONS FOR THE VILNIUS MARATHON

By registering, the participant confirms that they agree to the event regulations.

GENERAL PART


Vilnius City Municipality and Public Institution “Tarptautinis maratonas” are organizing the “Swedbank Vilnius Marathon” (hereinafter – the Run) on September 13, 2026.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

  1. To popularize running culture in Lithuania and encourage interest in running.
  2. To increase the number of mass events in the city of Vilnius.
  3. To increase the activity of city residents.
  4. To promote and encourage running as a healthy lifestyle.
  5. To identify the strongest runners in the distances.

DISTANCES

Participants of the Run will be able to choose the following distances:

  1. “Swedbank” Marathon – 42.195 km;
  2. Half Marathon – 21.098 km;
  3. 10 km Run;
  4. 5 km Run;
  5. “Marsiečiai” Children’s Run – 200 m (for children aged 2–12 years inclusive).

START PLACE AND TIME

Start at Cathedral Square (Šventaragio St.)

TIME LIMITS

  1. Marathon – 5 hours 30 min.
  2. Half Marathon – 3 hours.
  3. 10 km Run – 1 hour 30 min.
  4. 5 km Run – 1 hour.

AGE RESTRICTIONS

  1. Marathon – from 18 years.
  2. Half Marathon – from 18 years.
  3. Children’s Run – from 2 years to 12 years inclusive.
  4. No age restrictions apply to participants of the 10 km and 5 km distances.

PARTICIPANTS

  1. The race is open to anyone who has completed the participant registration form, paid the participant registration fee (according to the chosen distance), and checked their health and confirmed this upon registration. All participants take part in the run of their own free will, without coercion, assume all risks associated with participation (including various health disorders, etc.), and undertake not to raise any claims against the organizers of the run.
  2. When collecting the participant’s race pack, which includes a bib number with a timing chip, a cloakroom sticker with the number, etc., runners must present an identity document or a copy of the document. To collect another participant’s race pack, you must present their identity document or a copy/photo of it.
  3. Each registered participant automatically agrees that the event organizers may freely use all photos and video footage taken during the event for marketing purposes without separate consent.
  4. Persons under 18 confirm, by submitting a completed and signed consent form, that they have obtained the consent of their parents, guardians, or coach to participate in the event and/or that they will be supervised by parents, guardians, or a coach throughout the event, who assume full responsibility for the participants.
  5. By registering, the participant confirms that they understand participation involves a significant test of physical abilities and also confirms that they have had a health check, comply with the health check requirements provided in the laws of the Republic of Lithuania, and will provide a medical certificate confirming their health condition at the request of the organizers or other persons. If there are suspicions about unsuitable health condition, upon the organizers’ request, the participant must cease participation and consult a doctor.
  6. The participant understands and confirms that the organizers are not responsible for and will not compensate any damage to the participant’s health or life. All risk and responsibility for health disorders, injuries, and accidents arising from participation lie solely with the participant.

RUSSIAN AND BELARUSIAN CITIZENS

All Russian and Belarusian athletes agree, by participating in the event, that they are competing out of competition and are not eligible for podium places or awards. Professional athletes may not participate in the event (regardless of applied exceptions).

  1. All citizens of Russia and Belarus holding a residence permit in Lithuania must pay the registration fee by bank transfer.
  2. Each participant must provide their Lithuanian residence permit, a freely drafted and signed statement expressing a position that does not support Russian acts of war (in English or Lithuanian), and a copy of the payment.
  3. The participant must inform the organizers at [email protected] that the documents will be brought to the number collection point. Failure to comply with these provisions will result in the participant not being allowed to participate, and the start fee will be refunded after the event.
  4. Pursuant to the recommendation of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania and the notice of the Lithuanian Athletics Federation (below), by the decision of Public Institution “Tarptautinis maratonas,” citizens of Russia and Belarus are strictly prohibited from participating in events organized by the organization. Exceptions apply to persons who have and can present an official residence permit issued by the competent institutions of the Republic of Lithuania valid during the event. When collecting the race number, participants must present a residence permit in the territory of Lithuania (regardless of whether the document has already been sent by email).
  5. The organizers reserve the right to request an additional document if the submitted documents raise suspicion. The organizers reserve the right not to accept the submitted documents and not to allow participation without additional explanation. (In such a case, the participant’s fee is refunded after the event). 03 16 regarding citizens of Belarus and Russia

CHILDREN’S RUN

  1. All participants of the Children’s Run must have a printed consent form signed by one of the parents or guardians when collecting numbers; it can also be signed on-site.
  2. Children’s Run participants aged 6 and under (inclusive) may run accompanied by one parent or guardian.
  3. Parents or guardians undertake to write on the back of the participant’s number their own telephone number or that of another person present at the event with the child.
  4. The belongings of Children’s Run participants and their parents or guardians are not stored in the baggage storage.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS AND RESTRICTIONS

Participants who violate the regulations, special conditions, and restrictions will be disqualified.

  1. Registration can only be done in your own name.
  2. It is forbidden to transfer your number to another participant.
  3. Participants and their supporters are strictly prohibited from using any vehicles on the course, e.g., bicycles, rollerblades, skateboards, or other wheeled devices.
  4. Participants are prohibited from using any personal escort/pacing during the race.
  5. Any assistance provided to participants from outside is prohibited.
  6. It is strictly forbidden to participate with a pet during the event.
  7. Each participant must wear the bib number properly attached to the shirt during the race. The number must be on the front of the shirt (chest), clearly visible.
  8. It is forbidden for participants to deviate from the race course (without a referee’s permission).
  9. After finishing, participants must leave the start/finish zone through specially designated exits.
  10. After finishing, it is strictly forbidden to walk over the timing control mat; otherwise, results will be annulled.

DISTANCES, CHANGES TO PARTICIPANT DATA

Changes can be made up to 7 calendar days before the event by email ([email protected]) with proof of payment.

Only registered participants may request changes.
A €10 service fee applies to all changes, except medical cases with documentation.

Distance Change

  • Switching to a shorter distance: €10 service fee only

  • Switching to a longer distance: €10 service fee + price difference

Other Changes

Club name, shirt size, and similar changes incur a €10 service fee (subject to availability).

Registration Transfer to Next Year

Allowed only in case of injury/illness with medical proof. No service fee.

SPECIAL POINTS ON THE COURSE

  1. Toilets will be placed on the Marathon course for participants.
  2. Medical staff will be on duty on the course for all distances.
  3. Support/music stations will operate along the course during the run.
  4. Refreshment points will be set up on the course, where water will be distributed to participants:
    • For 42 km and 21 km, the first water station will be at 1.7 km; further along the course, water stations are positioned approximately every 3 km.
    • Fruit will be available at every second station.
    • In the second part of the 42 km course, energy gels and “Red Bull” drinks will be available at water stations.
    • For 10 km participants, there will be 2 water and electrolyte stations.
    • For 5 km participants, there will be 1 station.

SERVICES FOR PARTICIPANTS

  1. On the event day, participants will be able to leave their belongings at the baggage storage in Cathedral Square.
  2. Toilets will be available in the event village.
  3. A medical point will be set up in the finish area of the event village.

BAGGAGE STORAGE

  1. On the event day, participants will be able to leave their belongings in the storage at Cathedral Square.
    1.1. Participant belongings are identified by sticking a label with the participant’s number on the bag strap or another clearly visible place; you will find the label in the envelope with your bib number.
    1.2. One participant may leave only one bag in the storage.
    1.3. It is forbidden to leave loose items in the storage (phone, keys, bicycles, scooters, etc.) unless they are placed in a bag. 1.4. The participant must place their belongings in the area assigned according to their number. If a bag is left on a table, in an area not assigned by number, or elsewhere, the organizer is not responsible for the safety of the belongings.
    1.5. Participants must collect their belongings from the storage immediately after finishing.
    1.6. Participants must follow the instructions of Volunteers to ensure flow management.

RESULTS AND AWARDS

  1. Event results are compiled according to the official race time (time from the starting gun).
  2. Your result will be publicly announced in the official race protocol and on the race website, in the “Results” section.
  3. Winners of the first three places will be announced in the absolute women’s and men’s categories for the 5 km, 10 km, 21.098 km, and “Swedbank” Marathon distances.
  4. Winners of the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10 km, and 5 km runs are awarded cash prizes: Marathon 1st place (male and female) – 1500 Eur, Half Marathon 1st place (male and female) – 500 Eur, 10 km run 1st place (male and female) – 300 Eur, 5 km 1st place (male and female) – 200 Eur.
  5. Men and women taking 1st – 3rd places in the Marathon and Half Marathon are awarded cups, diplomas, and sponsors’ prizes.
  6. Men and women taking 1st – 3rd places in the 10 km run and 5 km run are awarded cups and sponsors’ prizes.
  7. All finishers will receive commemorative medals.
  8. Any claims by participants must be submitted in writing to the chief referee of the competition no later than 30 minutes after the end of the competition. Upon submitting a claim, the participant must pay a 30 Eur fee, which is refunded only if the appeals committee (marathon director, chief referee, LAF representative) satisfies the claim. Claims are not considered until this fee is paid.

ENTRY FEE, REGISTRATION

  1. Registration takes place on the website www.manobegimas.lt. You can register for the run by filling in the registration form and making payment via online banking.
  2. Participant data must be correct.
  3. Registration is available: until the event day – online; on the event day – on-site at the information center no later than 30 minutes before the chosen distance start.
  4. A participant who has correctly completed the registration form and paid the start fee is included in the start protocol.
  5. By registering, the participant confirms that they agree to receive newsletters and SMS messages related to events organized by Public Institution “Tarptautinis maratonas” and important event information.

Participants registering by May 31 receive PERSONALIZED numbers! The entry fee is non-refundable and non-transferable to another participant.

ISSUANCE OF BIB NUMBERS

Information about the place and time for collecting race packs will be specified closer to the event.

  1. The participant must check the contents of the race pack at the collection point. After collection, if there is a shortage in the pack, it will not be supplemented. The race pack is not issued after the start of the chosen distance.
  2. Each participant must collect their start pack during the advance distribution time and on the event day at least 2 hours before the start of the chosen distance. If arriving later at the collection point, the participant’s pack with sponsor gifts, depending on the situation and participant flow, may not be issued—i.e., only the bib number may be provided.

RACE COURSE

The race course will be specified later.

PERSONAL DATA PROCESSING

Public Institution “Tarptautinis maratonas,” legal entity code: 300561278, registered address: Kedrų g. 3, (room 301-2), Vilnius, tel. +37064732998, email [email protected], is the data controller responsible for collecting and processing the data submitted by persons participating in the Swedbank Vilnius Marathon.

  1. Public Institution “Tarptautinis maratonas” is also the operator of the website www.vilniausmaratonas.lt.
  2. Participants submit data by completing the registration form on the website www.manobegimas.lt. These data are processed on the basis of the data controller’s legitimate interest – for the organization and implementation of the Run and for the participant’s participation therein:
    2.1. Information about first name, last name, date of birth, as well as payment data for registration are processed for the processing and administration of the purchase of participant services (registration) for participation in the event;
    2.2. Information about the phone number, email address, date of birth, gender, country, city, as well as data about the results achieved in the event (time, place) are processed for information and event organization purposes (to send relevant information about the event, to determine results and winners, prepare awards, determine categories in which the participant competes (by gender, age), etc.);
    2.3. Information about the participant’s first name, last name, and email address is also processed for direct marketing, if the participant has given prior consent.
  3. The participant must provide the data specified in sections
    2.1 and 2.2 to complete registration and for achieving the event’s purposes.
  4. Data about the participant’s first name, last name, age group, gender, achieved results (time, place), as well as city and country are publicly published on the websites www.manobegimas.lt, www.vilniausmaratonas.lt, www.ltutiming.lt. To ensure transparency of results, by registering for the event, the participant automatically agrees that these data will be publicly published on the website.
  5. Each participant automatically agrees by registering that the event organizers may freely use all photos and video footage taken during the event for marketing purposes, e.g., on social networks, the website, etc., without separate consent.
  6. All Lithuanian citizens participating in the Vilnius Marathon – 42.195 km distance are included in the Lithuanian Marathon Championship standings organized by the Lithuanian Athletics Federation (LLAF) and receive an LLAF license. Participants agree that LLAF responsibly processes personal data related to the LLAF license.
  7. The competition is organized in accordance with World Athletics Label rules.
  8. Participant data retention:
    8.1. Data about the participant’s phone number and email address – 5 years from the day of the participant’s registration for the event;
    8.2. Data about the participant’s first name, last name, date of birth, gender, country, city, as well as data about results achieved in the event (time, place) – for statistical/historical purposes and are not deleted;
    8.3. Data about the participant’s first name, last name, phone number, email address for direct marketing – 5 years from the granting of such consent.
  9. The participant has the right to request that Public Institution “Tarptautinis maratonas” allow access to, and correct or delete, the participant’s personal data, or restrict processing.
  10. If data are processed for direct marketing, the participant has the right to object at any time. This right can be exercised by informing via email at [email protected].
  11. The participant has the right to submit a complaint to the State Data Protection Inspectorate regarding the actions (inaction) of Public Institution “Tarptautinis maratonas,” which, in the participant’s opinion, violate legal provisions.
  12. All participants agree that their email address and participant number will be used for GetPica service photos.

The organizers reserve the right to change and supplement the rules. In the event of “force majeure” circumstances, Public Institution Tarptautinis maratonas (the party) is released from liability for failure to hold the Run and is not obliged to refund reservation fees if the event does not take place due to circumstances that the party could not control or reasonably foresee at the time of registration and could not prevent the occurrence of such circumstances or their consequences.
